Disability Definition


Acquired Brain Injury
Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) is an impairment of brain functioning.
AIDS
AIDs occurs when a number of specific infections or cancers develop as a result of HIV infection.

Anorexia
It is often referred to as the Slimmer's Disease and is characterised by the loss of at least a quarter of normal weight and by fear of normal weight.
Anxiety
People with anxieties are in a state of persistant anxiety and worry, unable to sleep at night and therefore always fatigued.
Apraxia

Arthritis
Refers to any condition of joints of the limbs or spine associated with inflammatory or structural change
Asperger's Syndrome
People with Asperger Syndrome find it difficult to read the signs that most people take for granted and as a result they find it more difficult to communicate and interact with others. A number of traits of autism are common to Asperger's Syndrome including difficuly in social relations, communication and difficulty in thinking in abstract ways.
Asthma
Asthma is a common disorder of breathing characterised by widespread narrowing of airways within the lungs.
Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder
ADHD is sometimes termed as hyperkinetic syndrome.
Attention Deficit Hypertensive Disorder
A disorder with overactive behaviour, short attention span and poor concentration.
Autism
A complex condition which affects the way that people communicate with and relate to those around them.
